Yes. If you live in the city limits of Madisonville you must have a
burn permit year round. Outside Madisonville city limits you must have a
burn permit Oct. 15-May 15.
Call 423-442-2212 or 423-519-3473 and someone for the fire department will come out to
where you plan to burn and issue or deny a permit depending on weather,
type of material being burned, and danger factors. Permits are
issued by the TN Division of Forestry outside Madisonville city limits and
may be obtained by calling 423-442-7401.
The Tennessee Department of Conservation regulates what can be burned.
Permitted materials are branches, tree limbs, twigs, lawn clippings, woody
vegetation, yard trimmings, clean unpainted, uncoated, and untreated wood
